Calculate the Current Yield and estimated Yield to Maturity (YTM) for Malaysian Islamic securities (Sukuk).
Even though Sukuks don't pay traditional interest, their market prices are still inversely correlated to the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) set by Bank Negara Malaysia. If the OPR rises, existing Sukuk prices usually fall.
The YTM calculation assumes that all periodic profit payments are reinvested at the same YTM rate. If current market rates are lower when you receive your profit payments, your actual realized return may be lower than the YTM.
Compare Investments: YTM allows you to directly compare the expected returns of different Sukuks with varying prices, profit rates, and maturities on a leveled playing field.
